GB QV SG8var 1d Red Pl 49 (AJ) Imprimatur. An example removed from the Imprimatur (Registration Sheet) by favour. Some of these ended up in the Royal Collection while others were gifted to important dignitaries. These items are unique and were removed from the first sheet off the press which was sent to Somerset House for registration. They are all ungummed and on average 22 were removed from each sheet and 5 from each sheet went into the Royal Collection and several years ago 4 of those 5 were sold to raise money for another purchase. The remainder of these Sheets are in the British Postal Museum archives. Comes on original SG sale card and the original price being £1500. This is a lovely example with 4 good neatly cut margins.
